What would have caused you to leave TripAdvisor.com?
  • I was looking for Waikiki hotels. I got to the Waikiki hotels page, but it only listed one hotel. (I’m still not sure why that happened.) At that point I would have left tripadvisor and gone to Google to search for another travel review site.

What other ideas do you have about how TripAdvisor.com could be improved?
  • I wasn’t able to figure out how I could book the hotel I wanted (Waikiki Prince) through you.
  • Your search box seems to be dynamic (I saw “Waikiki hotels” as an example search phrase). So when I typed Waikiki hotels into the search box, I expected that you’d provide good results. But you didn’t…you just showed one hotel.
  • It didn’t seem too well organized. Each page had tons of GREAT information, but too many different sections (Inside Waikiki, See Waikiki, goLists, traveler reviews, traveler photos, Articles, Guidebooks, Forum, Discussions, etc.). To make matters worse, some of the info had nothing to do with Waikiki, so my eye was working hard to filter out stuff that wasn’t relevant to my task. And you duplicated some of the same information on the page (like two ads for your newsletter, and two places where you promote your goLists.

What did you like about TripAdvisor.com?
  • The reviews. You have an amazing number of reviews. I could (and probably will) spend hours on your site reading what customers have said about Waikiki restaurants.
  • I love how you prioritize the best hotels and best restaurants in each city (and show their average pricing). For example, you show all 473 Honolulu restaurants in priority order. That makes it easy for me to pick one and know that I’ll probably like it.
  • I saw a negative review of the hotel I wanted to stay in. I love how you allow the hotel management to respond with their side of the story. If I hadn’t seen their response, I probably wouldn’t have wanted to book it.

Anything else you would like to say to the owner of TripAdvisor.com?
  • I would like to book the Waikiki Prince hotel through you. Is that possible?
