You may have heard rumblings about “GDPR” with increasing regularity the last few months. GDPR stands for General Data Protection Regulation and was passed in the European Union to increase protection of personal information for all EU residents. When passed in 2016, the regulation gave all companies, regardless of where they are headquartered, two years to ensure compliance. GDPR goes into effect May 25, 2018.

Here at UserTesting, we believe that open communication and honest feedback between companies and the consumers that they serve is critical to innovation and the creation of new and brilliant products and experiences. However, we are equally dedicated to the preservation of privacy and protection of data of all with whom we do business. Members of the UserTesting IT, product and legal teams have been working hard to ensure UserTesting’s compliance with the GDPR by the effective date.

For customers as well as members of the UserTesting panel, we have created a GDPR informational page, with information on how we process data as well as resources and contact information.

Here are some high-level points:

  • Data processing. UserTesting employs products and services of third-party vendors in connecting customers to consumers who have opted in to participate in studies. As a step in ensuring GDPR compliance, UserTesting has reviewed and continues to assess vendors for compliance assurances.
  • For customers. Customers who want support with inspecting, updating and removing personal information can email For information on our privacy and security policies and practices, customers can reach our Data Protection Officer at Additionally, we provide tips and advice in our Help Center, including this piece on Best Practices for Avoiding the Collection of Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
  • For members of the UserTesting panel. Study participants can view and manage personal information by logging into their account. They can also manually delete their account once logged in. There is also a Help Center dedicated to providing information on the tester experience, including these pieces on Maintaining Your Privacy and How To Delete My Account.
