Xivic saves time and resources by partnering with UserTesting

Jennifer DeRome  |  June 15, 2016

Xivic, a digital agency for over 20 years, helps brands and clients understand their customers’ digital journey and expectations. Shaping this experience is unique to every brand and business, and Xivic focuses on solutions key to each brand’s customers. One of Xivic’s strongest attributes is the ability to communicate to partners the many aspects of digital—both simple and complex—and craft solutions that work successfully.

The challenge

The process of collecting user feedback has always been essential for Xivic, but it was often inefficient. Manual recruitment of their own test participants for in-lab user testing made it nearly impossible to conduct studies for multiple clients simultaneously, not to mention it was a huge drain on their resources and time. Xivic spent hours posting ads and surveys to recruit users and then had to vet them to ensure the right demographic fit. Then, the team would typically spend 30 minutes setting up a test, followed by an hour for each in-person test. This meant that getting feedback from just four to six users could take up an entire day. The team realized that their recruitment and testing process was taking valuable time away from strategy and development, so they looked to UserTesting for a solution.

The solution

With UserTesting’s automated recruiting and fast turnaround time, the Xivic team was able to get user feedback much more efficiently. They were shocked at how easy it was to launch user tests and how quickly they were able to get actionable insights.

The result

UserTesting has become an essential part of Xivic’s work for almost all of their clients. Now when someone wants to run a user test with five people, for example, they don't have to spend hours interviewing, setting up, and testing each participant individually. Instead, the team can run a multi-person user test, review the results, identify issues, and work with the team to collaborate on solutions—in less time than it would’ve previously taken just to interview the participants.

Instead of worrying about where our testers are coming from and if they’ll show up, we’re now able to focus on the test itself. This, in turn, has decreased our testing cost by over 50%.” - Meri Gulyan, VP of Experience Strategy at Xivic

The UserTesting videos also made it easy to demonstrate to their clients how and why a feature needed to be built in a way that meets user expectations, saving the team even more time and effort.

“Clients can hear and see how users are reacting to their product or site, and they’re more willing to accept changes or new strategy based on data rather than gut.” - Meri Gulyan, VP of Experience Strategy at Xivic
