Normally, I enjoy using UserTesting and have had mostly positive experiences. However, I had a disappointing experience last week that made me question how much UserTesting values its testers' time and effort. I participated in a test that involved an external Qualtrics survey, which I completed thoroughly over the course of 30 minutes. I successfully submitted my answers. Unfortunately, after submitting the survey, the UserTesting platform experienced repeated upload failures for my test recording. I spent another 30 minutes trying to resolve the issue, but the problem appeared to be on their end, not mine. Despite the fact that the client received my complete feedback via the survey (with proof provided), I was informed via an automated message that I would not be compensated, simply because the recording failed to upload. I reached out to support but received no personalized response or resolution. It's frustrating to dedicate an hour of focused work only to be dismissed due to a technical issue outside my control. I hope UserTesting reconsiders how it handles situations like this.
