have been a tester on UserTesting for a month now, and while it may be too early to give a definitive review, my experience so far has been frustrating. 1. Technical Issues and Lack of Support One of the biggest problems I’ve encountered is errors when downloading completed tests. This has happened to me at least six times, with each test taking 10 to 30 minutes of my time. I reported the issue multiple times, explaining that the tests were not loading properly, but I never received a real solution. Instead, I kept getting automated emails asking, “Do you still need help?”, which completely missed the point. There is no real technical support—just generic responses that don’t address the actual problem. For a platform that relies on usability and user feedback, this lack of support is very disappointing. 2. Limited Test Availability There are very few tests available, and when tests do appear, they seem to require highly specialized IT skills. While I understand that some tests require expertise, I find it hard to believe that true IT professionals—who can earn much more elsewhere—would spend time completing low-paid usability tests on this platform. The screening process feels overly restrictive, making it very difficult for regular testers to qualify for paid opportunities. 3. Is It Worth It? At this point, my experience with UserTesting has been more frustrating than rewarding. Between wasted time due to technical errors, a lack of proper support, and very few available tests, it does not feel like a reliable or consistent way to earn extra money. Perhaps UserTesting is beneficial for a small group of highly specialized testers, but for the average person looking to do usability tests, the experience is not great. I will continue for a little longer to see if things improve, but right now, I wouldn’t recommend UserTesting to anyone expecting a fair, efficient, and well-supported platform.
