The good news is that UserTesting offers many testing opportunities for all times of the day so testers can do and be paid for many tests. Secondly, it's easy to report tech problems with tests, and there's a partial payment system in place to pay testers when there is a problem with the test itself (e.g. the prototype is offline, the instructions are confusing, etc.). The bad news is that tester support leaves much to be desired. Even when there is a legitimate glitch/bug, the support team almost always tells the tester that it's the tester's fault. I've asked them to look on Reddit and see all the testers reporting the same bug; it's not just me! It's a system problem! Tester support often does not read your help request, they simply respond with a pre-written answer and close your help ticket. Testers have to fight to reopen help tickets and get a personalized response. I am surprised when I get a personalized response because it's rare. It takes weeks to resolve help tickets because they support team is overloaded, and usually the resolution does not favor the test. I feel tester support has gone downhill over the past few years. Lastly, for live, moderated tests, when the researcher cancelled at the last minute or was a no-show, testers were previously paid the full amount of the test (usually $30 or $60 for US testers). Now the pay rate is only $10!!!
