If you create, participate in, or manage user testing on your day job, UserTesting might not be a good fit. They declined my application (with no feedback, of course), which is why I’m giving them one star. I paused quite a bit at the beginning of the practice test because the tasks felt incredibly basic. I came in expecting real user testing like walking through full user journeys, spotting actual issues, and offering UX/UI feedback. Instead, I was asked to check a map and find the nearest coffee shop to my house. I don’t even drink coffee, so that was off-putting. Another task involved clicking on a page and reading a rule or term from a particular section, it's just not the kind of testing I expected. I guess I overestimated the level of work on this platform. While Trustpilot is full of glowing reviews, I’ve seen very different, feedback on other platforms. After reading UserTesting reviews on these other platforms, I am convinced they did me a favor. So thanks for the decline. Update 4/15/2025: Your response is extremely insulting and whatever your reasoning was for declining my application, it was not because I did not follow your instructions. I left some pretty direct feedback about your process, because the process is awkward, not user friendly in any way, and was not even close to the type of user testing I have created, managed and conducted in a professional setting. As stated, I expected too much from this process and was completely thrown off when I realized how low-level and basic the testing aspect was. Simply repeating what I've read on a page or searching for a coffee shop near my house is not the kind of user testing I expected.
