Following a range of enhancements made in our fall release, in our first major release in 2020 we’ve improved both the qualitative and quantitative insights you get from UserZoom.

Here’s a quick summary of the improvement we’ve made, with further details below.

  • See and hear everything users do in a study: With optional end-to-end study recording, you now get complete qualitative insights even as you collect quantitative data. You can record everything a user does and says during every part of your study, including during pre- and post-task questions for a usability study, or even during other methods like tree tests and card sorts as part of an advanced study.
  • A faster, simpler way to analyze open card sorts: You can now group similarly named categories in a UserZoom open card sort without having to export your data for analysis, so you can reach your UX insights faster.
  • Improved video and audio: With our new browser extension technology, you’ll notice a significant improvement to the resolution and quality of all video and audio. This new technology initially benefits participants using Google Chrome, with the addition of other browsers soon.

End-to-end study recording

End-to-end study recording gives you complete continuous insight into your digital experiences.

You can capture everything that users do and say before, during, and after every task in your study, so you can learn more about how users interact with and respond to the experience, perceive your brand, and how they consider the questions you ask them.

Whether you want to see how users behave as they make decisions during a tree test, or hear what a participant says as they answer survey questions after a usability task, end-to-end study recording gives you the full, uninterrupted insight into your users’ experience.

End-to-end study recording is available for the basic usability and advanced UX methods.

Open card sort standardization

We’ve automated a previously time-consuming part of analysis with the addition of open card sort standardization, which helps you to efficiently group similarly named category names within an Open Card Sort.

This gives you a much clearer view of how your users think about items, how they group items and how they think about labelling them when taking part in an Open Card Sort.

The standardization capability not only allows you to efficiently group categories, it indicates whether you should. The agreement level shows the closeness of the relationship between the cards in grouped categories, to help you understand whether you should standardize or not, while you have the option to de-standardize and then regroup categories, so you can define the optimum content groupings.

Not only can you shave time off your results analysis, you’re able to more effectively share open card sort insights based on category labelling with your stakeholders, helping your team to quickly make more informed decisions about how to group items and how to label their categories.

Improved video and audio quality

With our all new desktop browser extension technology, you can see what participants did, and hear what they think with greater clarity than ever before. Currently benefiting participants browsing on Chrome, this new technology makes it easier to analyze user videos, while also making any clips and highlights more impactful with the stakeholders you share them with.

That’s all from our latest UserZoom release, and you can even expect further agile incremental improvements over the coming months.

We are hard at work integrating the strengths of that platform to develop all new capabilities for testing on mobile and for generating qualitative insights through moderated testing for UserZoom.
