Udemy needed to better understand the needs and behaviors of hybrid (mobile plus desktop) users compared with mobile-only users. However, UX researchers knew that one-off interviews wouldn’t yield enough insight or make the grade.


UserTesting allowed Udemy to uncover and tap into users’ actual behavior, whenever a learning moment struck, thanks to weeklong diary studies and remote unmoderated testing.


Udemy uncovered valuable new insights regarding mobile usage to inform future product and feature planning. Researchers hailed a shift in their mindset and a realization that there is a nuance in how students use mobile.
