What do you like best about the product?

I like that videos are recorded (screen and voice) so it makes it easy to look at insights, take notes, etc. I like that I can create clips to share with colleagues, and that I can play around with a lot of settings. I use it heavily for User Research for my job as a Product Designer. I also like that I can rewind, fast forward, speed up, slow down, and take notes.

What do you dislike about the product?

Some of the user interface could be improved. It's difficult sometimes to see which test I'm on, I feel like they can do better at making it more intuitive. I also wish I could conduct live interviews, instead of just posting my prototype. Also, the note-taking capabilities can be improved as well. I feel like taking notes on there is disorderly. Maybe they could have a transcript option that transcribes everything for me.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

I am using UserTesting to conduct usability studies. I like having all my test saved on the platform so I can always go back to review them,

What do you like best about the product?

I was most impressed by how quickly our videos came back from testers; within hours. The responses were also good quality, so I felt like they had done a good job at finding the right people (although I also set up the test itself with screener questions and targeting). I also loved that it was easy for me to set up; I have some experience with user research but not a lot, and still felt like I was able to use the tool to get good results.

What do you dislike about the product?

I don't like that I need an enterprise plan in order to go above a certain # of tests; that has been the biggest thing holding me back since we're a small organization that really only needs this service on an ad hoc basis.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Try a small run of video feedback first before you commit to more; you will learn about better ways to set up your questions or response flow by viewing the initial responses.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

We already get feedback from our most engaged users directly; UserTesting has helped us better understand how users interpret our website if they are NOT a core user. The feedback we got from our first run of user tests was really helpful in framing our portrait of website visitors and overall brand impressions.

What do you like best about the product?

Easy to use and setup tests plus you get insights back normally within 24 hours!

What do you dislike about the product?

I wish the amount of users was larger - we run into some of the same users sometimes.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

Understanding how enhancements to our site will help the customer journey and understanding what users don't like on our site.

What do you like best about the product?

The platform is intuitive and easy to use. It has loads of resources (clips, script etc) and also if there is a problem with a user you will get this replaced quickly.

What do you dislike about the product?

Sometimes you need permission to download clips which makes it a bit slow. Also, the clips feature is a little bit complicated to use. I have tried to recruit Spanish people before and it was difficult.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

User testing enables me to get user feedback quickly and effectively. When using the non-moderated test, it is great for quick feedback or if you are very busy as you can set your tests and go back to them. It is a reliable source and it doesn't require as much time as other types fo research/testing. Also, the tests are picked up quickly which is great.

What do you like best about the product?

it’s very quick in giving responses and customer support.

What do you dislike about the product?

some of their reviewers seem somewhat less than technically capable of giving good reviews.

make sure you give extremely detailed instructions on how to set up your prototype before you ask a user to review it.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

I was trying to test how well users could interact with a prototype that I made for a class.

What do you like best about the product?

It’s a fantastic way to recruit participants quickly. It’s a great tool to manage stakeholders and have the ability to answer their questions quickly by speaking to customers without the lengthy and costly formal face to face recruitment process. The support is very good too. Whenever I’ve had an issue they have been quick to solve my problem

What do you dislike about the product?

The participants can be very low quality. We are told by our account manager that only a very small proportion get through the screening to be testers onsite but having been through the process myself I don’t think that it is thorough enough. If I forget to put “UK” as a screener question I will get 15 respondents from overseas pretending that they are Tesco customers - it’s quite telling.

Make sure your screener questions are thorough. Purposefully try to catch people out. these fake testers are savvy!

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

Quick and fast user research to fit in with the agile way of our company. The benefits have been most important recently as we’ve had to move to 100% remote testing due to covid 19

What do you like best about the product?

Panel of participants is good but you have to include screening questions, customer support when there are issues, They keep adding useful features to grow. Ability to test websites or prototypes on mobile or desktop, easy to share videos, video clipping, transcription (although they seemed to have removed that from our account recently), search capability, scheduling live conversations

What do you dislike about the product?

Lack of flexibility, for instance if you create a script when you are testing a prototype you can't copy this to test a website, bad analysis tools-results don't line up when using the excel download. The user experience of taking a test on mobile is clunky.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

This is a costly tool, but if your team can use it effectively it is worthwhile. We supplement with also running studies using our customers, but not using this tool. We also have had mixed results trying to get our customers to use this tool when trying to set up Live Conversations using our own customer panel

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

being able to run more usability studies and to get results quicker. Also the panel helps to recruit participants (but it's not perfect). Good for getting feedback from prospective customers

What do you like best about the product?

The ability to investigate the thought process that participant have while conducting a study has been invaluable. The ability to interview individuals in their own home is also a benefit, deceasing the prevalence of confounds in studies.

What do you dislike about the product?

The only downside I have experienced is an incongruence of screener responses. Participants will pass UserTesting screeners to participate in the study, but then fail those same screeners in the survey itself.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

UserTesting is definitely worth a try if the collection of qualitative data is of importance to a company or individual.

We have been able to use UserTesting to create better user experiences, conduct in depth competitor analysis, collect myriad qualitative data, and to vet content before publishing to our wider audience.
