Takes the subjectivity out of feedback and backs it up with data and additional feedback.

What do you like best about the product?

We enjoy reviewing the video feedback. Although some testers have brutal feedback, it also helped us move forward from the project that we thought made sense. I dont have much experience with other UX design test sights- but did recently run a test on UsabilityHub.com and liked the data recap they sent me after my initial test.

What do you dislike about the product?

I would say we often ask for a United States pool of testers only and often get testers from Canada- that may not know US products- like CDs. We also pay for a premium subscription that has a support line- which I find never pick up the phone when you need it.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

They are taking the subjectivity out of the feedback some may have on a design or product offer and replacing it with objective, data driven, user tested feedback.

Simple to use platform wheer you can help make the user experience better and learn in the same time. Easy to operate interface with very clear instructions.

Sometimes platform is not responding and the testes are not valid.

User Testing is a great way to gain quick and actionable insights.

What do you like best about the product?

the amount of resources available to us is amazing. I reference the inclusive screener and test plan articles from the site a lot and they have helped my team and I bring inclusion further upstream in the research process. The test plan resources and premade templates have also streamlined our ability to quickly publish tests that get to the root of what it is we are trying to learn or validate with the design. The sales and support staff are amazing! They are also always available to chat and answer questions. The power sessions have been amazing as well.

What do you dislike about the product?

This may have more to do with my company's niche industry rather than the user testing platform itself, but when we build custom audiences, sometimes it takes a lot longer for testers to pick up a test which affects how quickly we can act on the insights. I also don't think the sentiment metrics are very reliable. A lot of my metrics indicate a "negative" sentiment but when I watch sessions, I would disagree that a reaction was negative.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

Speeding up time from posting a test to synthesizing insights and access to the number of testers available.

The Industry Standard

What do you like best about the product?

The main selling point of user testing is that you can get enough participants within a matter of hours. Their panel seems to be huge and often they are quality participants as well.

What do you dislike about the product?

There's not a whole lot to dislike, but if I had to say something, it would be that the survey question-ish functionality is a bit limited but not a big deal at all and I have other tools for this.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

Getting insights about and feedback from users. Pretty much all my user research needs (e.g. usability testing, interviews, etc.)

Excellent User Research tool, despite difficulties measuring ROI

Use Cases and Deployment Scope:

UserTesting gives us access to general consumer panels that we otherwise would have no way to communicate with, let alone efficiently recruit for research. UserTesting also allows us to conduct a variety of methods including (but not limited to) moderated interviews, unmoderated usability testing, cart sorts, and more. One of the features we find most beneficial with UserTesting is its out-of-the-box panel filtration and custom screening capabilities, both of which help us recruit the most appropriate research candidates based on learning objectives and timelines.

Likelihood to Recommend:

Most appropriate for: -Panel recruitment -Unmoderated usability testing -Quick tests -Moderated interviews -Unmoderated interviews Less appropriate for: -Card sorts -Surveys

UserTesting for Designers

Use Cases and Deployment Scope:

As a UX Designer, I have completed an internal course that allows me to set up my own tests with the guidance of an assigned UX Researcher. I mainly use UserTesting to test design concepts we are currently ideating on to learn how participants interact with our prototypes. So far I have launched unmoderated card sorts and usability tests and both have helped give me the information I need to either start designing solutions, or go forward with the solution I had already proposed.

Likelihood to Recommend:

UserTesting is great to help designers get validation on their designs to see if they are initiative or user friendly, however it can also determine if a design needs more work if participants have trouble using/understanding it. At my company, we tend to test after ideation and solutioning to help validate which concept to go forward with, but I am hoping in the future we can start testing early on in the ideation phase to help us get enough supporting evidence to determine whether or not we should explore a design further to create a better case with product and tech folks.

UserTesting has enabled me to do more as a team of 1

What do you like best about the product?

The ability to quickly get insights with low overhead. I've shifted primarily to unmoderated tests because the value is much higher than moderated.

What do you dislike about the product?

There are some design issues with the platform. I feel limited in how I can design studies on the platform.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

Sourcing participants quickly and easily. The framework for building unmoderated studies which has expanded my impact and bandwidth.

Forget about recruitment and transcription

Use Cases and Deployment Scope:

UserTesting allows me to create moderated and non-moderated usability tests quickly and easily. I don't need to worry about recruiting participants as they have a very wide range of participants available.

Likelihood to Recommend:

UserTesting solves the problem of recruitment. Thanks to UserTesting I can recruit participants from different countries around the world with the characteristics I need. Recruitment is a very difficult process for a small research team and I sometimes still struggle with that; for example, when recruiting minors for research. But not having to do the whole recruitment and reward process is a huge benefit.

Love this tool for quick and valuable feedback

What do you like best about the product?

Usertesting allows us to get feedback about our website from real people, very quickly. You can screen the users to ensure they meet your criteria. Generally we get results back within an hour, it has never taken more than a day. I like that you can take notes directly in the videos, so that you can easily find your spot later on. You can also create highlight reels and share them with your team members.

What do you dislike about the product?

It would be nice if I could do all my analysis and notes in user testing's site. Right now I am able to create notes on the video, and share clips, but I'd love to have a space to easily record and share higher level insights. No, you don't get the subtle observations that you would in an in person usability test, but this tool lets you get quick feedback to build up to an eventual in person test that may be more valuable than if you hadn't done any online tests first.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Take the time to speak with their support and customer representatives, they are very helpful.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

With this tool we are able to get quick, valuable feedback on our website. We use this to make decisions and changes to our site with the goal of giving users what they really want.
