Game changer in user research!
Use Cases and Deployment Scope:
We use it to test our future design and concept. We like to use the preference testing template for this type of need. We also use it to test our current product to see if improvements can be made. UserTesting gives us a chance to validate our assumptions or test new ideas faster than an individual interview or another type of testing. It's a big time saver for us.
Likelihood to Recommend:
It's so fast to test a concept with a real user! This is a good and easy way to create a video reel to explain pain points on the interface. We had some issues with the firewall when we used our personal external users (a client based in a government agency) to test. It was harder to set up an environment for them to bypass their own security rules.
UserTesting is an essential tool in my role as a UX content designer.
Use Cases and Deployment Scope:
I work in UX content design, so I use the platform for A/B, comprehension, and validation testing. It really helps me do what I consider an essential part of my job: getting our content in front of real users before we commit it to the live product. That helps me justify some of the content decisions we make.
Likelihood to Recommend:
UserTesting is excellent for solving complex content problems. A lot of work I do is based on compliance messaging, some of which is convoluted and confusing for users. If I can test variants of the content on users to find a way that's both compliant and user friendly then I've done my job well, UserTesting is essential in helping me do that. Regarding less appropriate scenarios, I honestly can't think of anything specific that affects my career. It would not be easy to use for physical product testing, considering the platform is online only.
UserTesting makes user research quick and easy
What do you like best about the product?
UserTesting makes collecting user feedback quick and easy. You can conduct various types of studies and use various types of stimuli, making it flexible for almost anyone from small busines to large corporations to use. In addition to this, their power sessions are extremely useful if you ever want to get valuable feeback from another researher, or need to think of a creative way to get the feedback you need from a researcher who knows the platform in and out. There is also live chat, which I have found to be easy to access when needed, and an extremely robust knowledge base of articles for quick reference.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish there were more options in the basic subscription plan. They just merged with User Zoom and are adding features that we do not have access to unless we upgrade our subscription.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
UserTesting is helping us learn about our user wants & needs, as well as rapid prototype usability testing to reduce as much friction as possible before we launch an update to our product.
A fantastic tool for gaining valuable insights!
What do you like best about the product?
UserTesting is such an easy platform to use! The ease of use is the main thing that I like the best, the quick turnaround for getting tests out to participants, and also the ease of if a participant's recording isn't up to standard, or they haven't followed the instructions properly it's so easy to replace a participant and not disrupt the research process. The metrics and displays of data in graphs automatically are extremely helpful too, I have used these when presenting to stakeholders at short notice. The recordings are always good quality, and the transcripts are helpful to follow when you are unable to play the full recording out loud. I use the platform at least 3 times a week out of a 5 day working week and am the champion of it in our company so can say I really do love it as a tool!
What do you dislike about the product?
I wouldn't say it's a dislike but sometimes the transcripts are inaccurate, or details have been missed/don't match what participants have written. I know there is an AI tool that can be used by those with a more premium account with Usertesting, it would be great if you could buy use of that feature through your credits.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
UserTesting was instrumental in an end-to-end redesign of the Russell & Bromley checkout. I was hired into the company to deliver the project and was the lead UX designer. Every round of user testing provided us with more valuable and detailed insights, which contributed hugely to the overall design. I felt so confident going into sign-off meetings with C-Suite members, communicating to key stakeholders and feeling confident that the design was user-centred and championed who would be our customers using it. I believe that UserTesting was also used for sign-off on the business case for the project before I was onboarded, as participants were asked to review the checkout alongside competitors. I regularly use the platform to test my designs for A/B testing before they go live on site, this can help me decide between, and /or refine variants that will go live on site. We currently also use Content Square, so any time our analyst identifies a problem being encountered by users on site, I will send out a user test to gain qualitative insights and understand why users are feeling the way they do, their own pain points, and reactions to the interface.

Essential tool for my day-to-day work
What do you like best about the product?
The functionality is top-tier. It's such an intuitive and easy-to-use tool where I can log on run tests and get feedback in super quick time. Ideal for my work.
What do you dislike about the product?
Honestly, I have nothing to fault. UserTesting fulfills all my work needs efficiently.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I focus on UX content design and USer Testing helps me get my ideas in front of real-life users which is essential to my decision making,
UT is very quick to set up and administer, but lacks more granular screening options.
What do you like best about the product?
I really love how intuitive and user-friendly the product is. We introduced UT to our stakeholders to make UX research more accessible across the org, and everyone was able to use it without any issues. Another aspect I love about UT as a researcher is that it saves me a tremendous amount of time finding research participants. I simply design the study, launch it, and receive the results in just a couple of days - it's awesome!
What do you dislike about the product?
I would love the ability to set a participant cap for specific groups, or the option.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
– It enables me to compare design solutions and determine which one resonates best with users, allowing me to make informed decisions before launching to a wider audience and minimizing potential risks. – UT provides valuable video feedback from users, which helps me build empathy and gain buy-in from product leadership. – I can collect feedback from competitors' users, saving me time and effort that would be spent recruiting and conducting research outside of the UT contributor panel. Overall, UT streamlines my research process, providing actionable insights that drive better design decisions and product success.
Recruit lots of participants QUICKLY to deliver fast and incisive insights
Use Cases and Deployment Scope:
As a UX Researcher, I employ UserTesting in my daily flow. I launch a number of qualitative studies, and UserTesting has not failed me ONCE in recruiting participants who meet my stringent criteria within tight deadlines. The transcription tool that writes out participants' feedback is also incredibly helpful in my analysis and synthesis process.
Likelihood to Recommend:
Use UserTesting if you need to recruit participants QUICKLY to get fast results. If you're running a particularly stringent project, UserTesting's screener tool isn't the most rigorous as I've had several participants who shouldn't have qualified based on the screener questions pass through and end up as participants in my studies. If strict adherence to participant recruitment guidelines is of top priority, you might want to use a more traditional approach to recruitment.
Love the product; essential for driving better business outcomes
Use Cases and Deployment Scope:
We primarily use UserTesting to validate, evaluate and test product design problems. Sometimes we use it to validate a more modern experience, other times we use it to test new experiences that have been designed to address specifical problems within the user journey. We test products as a lower fidelity test before we do live site AB testing and eventually deploy new experiences globally.
Likelihood to Recommend:
Good/well suited: - Industry/competitive analysis - Quick perception test - Content analysis - Early & late stage prototype testing - Basic usability testing Less suited - API testing, personalization testing
Love this tool for quick and valuable feedback
What do you like best about the product?
Usertesting allows us to get feedback about our website from real people, very quickly. You can screen the users to ensure they meet your criteria. Generally we get results back within an hour, it has never taken more than a day. I like that you can take notes directly in the videos, so that you can easily find your spot later on. You can also create highlight reels and share them with your team members.
What do you dislike about the product?
It would be nice if I could do all my analysis and notes in user testing's site. Right now I am able to create notes on the video, and share clips, but I'd love to have a space to easily record and share higher level insights. No, you don't get the subtle observations that you would in an in person usability test, but this tool lets you get quick feedback to build up to an eventual in person test that may be more valuable than if you hadn't done any online tests first.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
